In college, at Rice University in Houston, Texas, I majored in architecture, and was exposed to the art world for the first time, except for occasional trips to the Houston Fine Arts Museum.
During my sophomore year at Rice, Houston art patrons extraordinaire John and Dominique de Menil betowed their money and attention on the Rice Fine Arts Department, and brought fantastic teachers, lecturers, movies and exhibits to campus. That year I also went to NYC for the first time, and was forever turned on to modern art by seeing the works at both the MOMA and Met.
My Junior year at Rice I switched majors to Art, and started to paint, weld sculpture and make constructions. My teachers included Charles Schorre, Bob Camblin, John O'Neil, William Camfield, Catherine Brown, and others. I graduated with a B. A. in 1971.
In the late '70s/ early '80s I studied art again, this time at the Museum of Fine Arts Glassell School. My teachers were Dorothy Hood, Philip Renteria, Bas Poulous and Suzanne Manns.
Finally (education-wise), I learned computer graphics at Houston Community College in 1991-92, in classes with Sharon Hendry. This is when I discover computer art as an art medium.
During the late 1990's I had digital prints made of my work as Iris prints, done by printers in Iowa. In 2000 I purchased my own Epson large format printer, and started printing myself.
My work has been showcased in several shows, exhibits and commissions, and can be found in corporate, private, and university collections.
